Montenegro has unveiled its first free-for-all game development hub, providing local developers with workspaces, access to advanced software, and structured training programs. The hub is designed to support the growth of the country’s game development sector and nurture emerging talent.

The project was initiated by Milos Scepanovic, founder of MonteGames, and offers more than 20 high-end workstations for use by local creators and studios. Access to the hub is free for life, allowing developers to work on projects without worrying about equipment costs. In addition, the space includes learning tracks for Unity, Unreal Engine, and Blender, aiming to equip developers with industry-standard skills.

Training Programs to Start in Early 2026

A six-month training program is scheduled to begin between February and July 2026. The program will offer beginner-level courses in Unity and Blender, while more advanced developers can access training in Unreal Engine. The courses are structured to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, giving participants hands-on experience in game development.

The hub is located within the business premises of ICT Cortex in Podgorica, Montenegro, placing it at the center of the country’s growing tech ecosystem.

EU Support for Local Game Development

The initiative received €100,000 in funding from the European Union through the CBC GAIN – Investing in the Future: Gaming for New Generations initiative and the EU’s Interreg VI-A IPA Program for Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro (2021–2027). These programs are designed to support the expansion of the games industry in the Western Balkans, offering financial assistance and fostering regional collaboration.

By combining free access, high-end workstations, and structured training programs, the hub aims to create opportunities for aspiring developers and help grow the local game development community.
