LEBANON, N.H. (WCAX) – As 2025 nears its end, reporter Adam Sullivan spoke with people in the Upper Valley about their reflections on the past year.

Judith Boulet of Landaff, New Hampshire, had strong feelings about the year. “Terrible, terrible, terrible. Politics, politics,” she said when asked about looking back at 2025.

Kathy Stroffolino of Hartland echoed similar sentiments. “It was a tough year,” she said. “Our government. We are not happy with the president.”

Her husband, Dean Stroffolino, agreed. “The climate and our so-called government, it’s horrible. And I hope that things get better for our granddaughter and the next generation,” he said.

Not everyone shared the negative outlook. Chris Mirabito of Lebanon, New Hampshire, had a different perspective. “Oh, it was awesome, great year. Finished out a big project for work and moving on to the next one,” he said.

Addison Wilbur of Windsor offered a mixed assessment. “My thoughts for 2025 were — it was ok, I guess. It wasn’t the best year for me, but I did do a lot of fun stuff over the summer, so I would say it’s pretty good,” she said.

Michael Merrick of Natick, Massachusetts, took a measured view. “Not a bad year. The market is good. People seem to be pretty happy depending on what side of the aisle they are on, but hopefully people can get together, and it won’t be an issue in the future,” he said.

Peter Gallagher of Piermont, New Hampshire, summed up the year as eventful. “Been quite a year, quite a year,” he said. “Good and bad. I mean, we are still here, we are still alive, still kicking, and we are looking forward to a better year.”
