
Stars of Latvian culture will start receiving lifetime scholarships this year
Starting this year, lifetime scholarships will be awarded to Latvian artist and designer Helena Medne, documentary filmmaker Gunars Bandens, master restorer of documents, books, leather, and parchment Arija Ubarste, as well as writer, poet, and playwright Inga Abeļe.
The scholarship recipients also include poet, playwright, and writer Mara Zalīte, Latvian pop singer and music teacher Aija Kukule, Latvian popular music author and pianist Raimonds Pauls, as well as literary scholar, linguist, and publicist Janīna Kursīte-Pakule.
Lifetime scholarships will also be awarded to theater and film actress Indra Briķe, pioneer of modern dance in Latvia, teacher of modern and character dance Olga Žitluhina, honored state scholar Beatrice Reidzane, as well as art historian Silvia Grossa.
