Dritan Demiraj, on A2CNN, was asked about possible tensions in the Balkans during the year that has just begun.

The security expert is convinced that “the Balkans are not entering a new phase of insecurity,” as it is under the “political, military and diplomatic support of the United States of America.”

“The Balkans are not entering a new phase of uncertainty. Let me bring to your attention what I have actually stated before, the National Defense Authorization Act and the National Security Strategy. Two strategic documents recently signed in the United States of America, and when I say recently, in December. Both present the great importance of the Western Balkans, in particular by defining Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Kosovo as countries already affirmed in the new global order as part of the Western axis and under the supervision and modernization, under the political, military and diplomatic support of the United States of America,” said Demiraj.

According to him, “there is no doubt that there are problems with hybrid operations” in the Balkans, but he added that “the great American commitment will not allow Serbia’s malign operations and influences to create instability.”

“As long as the Russian intelligence services, the FSB, the GRU are present all the time in the territory of Serbia, we cooperate with its government, with its Ministry of Defense, with the BIA intelligence services, even in Serbian Bosnia there will be operations of what are known as low-intensity operations, propaganda operations, disinformation, that is, part of the hybrid war. But, the tendency of these due to the great American commitment by defining the territory of these states that I just mentioned as its domain, will not allow Serbia’s malignant operations and influences to create instability”, stressed Demiraj.
