Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sibiga discussed with Cyprus’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Konstantinos Kombos the issues of advancing Ukraine’s accession to the EU during Cyprus’s presidency of the EU, as well as bilateral cooperation and energy resilience.

I had a good conversation with my Cypriot colleague Konstantinos Kombos to congratulate Cyprus on taking up the presidency of the Council of the European Union. We focused on advancing Ukraine’s EU accession, deepening bilateral cooperation, strengthening defense cooperation, and enhancing Ukraine’s energy resilience

Key Points from the Conversation and Prospects for Cooperation
The parties discussed joint peacekeeping efforts and coordination of actions during Cyprus’s presidency of the EU, as well as the situation on the battlefield and the consequences of Russia’s air raids.
Sibiga also stressed that supporting Ukraine and efforts to end the war will remain among the main priorities of Cyprus’s presidency of the EU.

It is also noted that on January 1 Cyprus began its six-month presidency of the EU Council.
