Russian Gazprom and the operator of the Amber Grid gas transmission system in Lithuania have signed a five-year agreement on the transit of Russian natural gas through Lithuania to the Kaliningrad region. This was reported in the Lithuanian company.
The new agreement will be valid until December 31, 2030. Under the terms of the new agreement, prices for services are determined by the State Energy Regulatory Council of Lithuania, and the acceptable level of income of the Lithuanian side for 2026 is about 30 million euros.
As noted in Amber Grid, during the period of validity of the new agreement, it is possible to use capacities in the amount of 10.5 million cubic meters per day (or in energy units — 111.3 GWH) at the point of exit to the Kaliningrad region. Commercial gas trading will continue to be impossible in accordance with the requirements of the law.
The previous agreement was concluded on December 24, 2015 and expires on January 1, 2026. At the same time, Lithuania completely stopped importing Russian gas, with the exception of transit to the Kaliningrad region, in April 2022. In 2024, the volume of transit to the Kaliningrad Region through the Lithuanian territory increased by 9% to 26.1 TWh, or 2.5 billion cubic meters.
