  1. I am in the market for an EV, and a model Y is the most compelling on paper. But good enough alternatives exist now. Zero percent chance we’ll get a Tesla now or ever.

  2. Well he got his pay package, so what does he care? Back on the political bandwagon he goes.

That’s the thing Tesla didn’t suddenly get bad, it just stopped being the only obvious choice. Chinese OEMs are moving fast in Europe with solid range, interiors, and pricing, and buyers now have real alternatives. Once the “default Tesla” mindset breaks, the sales numbers were always going to follow.

I love that elons only tangible contribution to the company is the cyber truck. It’s the dumbest looking vehicle, like a child drew it with a crayon. On top of looking bad, it is poorly built too! Just shows that anything he didn’t buy or have someone else make is an epic failure similar to what a toddler would have done as CEO of a major company.

  5. Before Elon showed his true colors, I ownded a Model 3 – very good car. When it came time to replace it, I moved on. I got a Ioniq 6 and it’s a great car.

Now that I know who Elon is, you couldn’t pay me to drive a Tesla.

  6. Paywall.

The cybertruck appears to have failed. The pricing on the 3/Y is inline with what Kia/Hyundai are pricing for the EV6/Ioniq 5. But segment is more crowded now with Toyota/Subaru and Honda having better versions of the BZ and the Prologue.

I haven’t driven a Tesla, but I’ll assume they’re fine vehicles. I think the problem is that now they’re in a competitive market with a very polarizing CEO. They’ll continue to sell cars but nothing separates them from any other OEM aside from Elon’s social media/political presence.

  7. 15% drop over the year?!? That’s a 300$ value bump in stock price right?!? Tesla stock runs off farts and fairy dust predictions. Bad is good and good is good. Keep pumping that price up!

They *had* to know that alienating large swaths of the America population that actually buys EVs would kill sales right? No way they thought Nazis buying Cybertrucks would ever outsell the broad demographic buying Teslas.

  9. Owning a Tesla isn’t a flex any more.

Man, it used to be such a sign. A sign of wealth. A sign of eliminating gasoline.

Now it’s a sign of supporting a Nazi weirdo who’s trying to take over the country lol

Would love to know if they just randomly let slip through the rumor mill nothing official that sales are up how high the stock goes

  11. It’s almost like the cars are crap, nobody wants cybertrucks, they failed to roll out an affordable model for the masses, and Elon trashed the brand with politics and right wing batshit.

    Go figure.

  12. That’s more than I thought but that also probably includes the Tesla’s sold to Elon’s other companies

Why has nobody noticed that he has not produced a BETTER Tesla, with lots of innovations? Where is the new improved Tesla? Better batteries? Faster charging? Actual truck? Electric van? Is there innovation but just don’t see it?

I’ll never buy a Tesla so long as Musk’s name is attached to it in any way. It would just feel… gross.

But they agreed to pay that moron Musk a bunch more money; I look forward to when it tanks completely

  16. What if Tesla stock is a way for Russian billionaires to conspire with Musk and buy information from Starlink as it pertains to the War in Ukraine or on any other area in which they have an interest? I don’t think it is an accident that the stock is not tied to Tesla’s performance.

  17. Considering how inconsistent the vehicle quality is in combination with Musk’s personal politics I’m surprised they’re even selling that many. If there were more viable alternatives in the US no doubt they’d be in even worse trouble.

  18. Don’t think they care much about selling cars, stock price is based on… Hype? Fluff? Magic?? Who knows. Musk out there giving Nazi salutes and stock going up

  19. Mindfucker223 on

No matter who Elon is or what he said (although it does play a part), maybe nobody is buying because nobody has the money anymore, its all in his pocket (600+billion and counting) and his friends

  20. I was expecting 99%, not 15.6, so that’s not “a lot more than expected”…

Granted, I had no real data on how many will still buy a swasticar, just a wish for that expectation, still, that was my expectation.

  21. I find it hilarious that America always proclaims itself the bastion of the free market, yet they ban pretty much everything seen as a threat to American companies. Ban most Chinese smartphones, ban Chinese EV’s, ban Chinese drones, tariff all incoming goods to make American goods better value. I guess if you can’t compete, just ban everything. For a country that hates socialism it sure does come across as….socialist.
