The National Museum of Korea was estimated to have received an annual record of more than six-and-a-half million visitors last year.
The museum announced on Friday that a total of six-and-a-half million, seven-thousand-483 people had visited the institution, a new yearly record since the museum opened its doors in 1945.
Museum authorities partially attributed the boom to the global popularity of the Netflix animated film, “KPop Demon Hunters.” The film features characters inspired by traditional Korean folklore and accessories, some of which can be found at the museum.
The landmark figure is one-point-seven times the number of visitors posted in 2024.
The museum surpassed six million visitors on December 11.
