Many factors contributed to the end of the American dominated Internet, but Musk allowing indian and russian businesses to steal peoples’ images without their consent, copy them unlawfully under DMCA, modify them into hardcore pornography and sell it for profit was the final straw. Grok right now is an automatic DMCA violation device. I don’t even hate AI or AI-based art, but I hate it when random indians use *my* children as their sex objects. This will not fly when half the US has already begun restricting online pornography, Musk will be crushed by Texas, California, or a combination of them deciding to enact cyber police laws that allow them to disconnect twitter.
Which France is now doing. Countries that can control their own internet connections can control their own politics, information and public common spaces. We don’t tolerate random indians taking creepshots of kids at playgrounds, adding adult body parts, and selling them on the streets of delhi or v’isakhapatnam. Internet policing, like other police and law enforcement, is one of the basic definitions of the nation-state. Musk’s desire for more European nationalism is happening with himself as the target.
