Luxembourg’s weather in 2025 kept locals guessing, according to a bulletin published on Friday by Agrimeteo, the meteorological service of the Administration of Technical Agricultural Services (Asta), and verified by MeteoLux, the country’s official weather service in Findel.
Overall, 2025 was warmer than the 1991–2020 climate reference period, with temperature anomalies ranging from +0.1 to +0.9°C. June was the standout month, with warmer weather than usual, while July bucked the trend, with cooler-than-normal temperatures in several locations.
Remich and Findel only saw below-average temperatures in July, whereas Asselborn recorded cooler months in January, February and July. Clemency experienced the most “cool” months, including May, July, August, September and November, according to the report.
Rainfall: a patchwork across the country
Precipitation patterns varied sharply by region. Asselborn and Findel recorded above-average rainfall, while Clemency and Remich were drier. Across the stations analysed, seven months had below-average rainfall.
September brought the heaviest rainfall, setting new monthly records at some stations, while December saw the driest conditions of the year.
Early January saw heavy snow followed by rapid melting, triggering localised floods along the Alzette, Sûre and Moselle rivers.
Conditions remained relatively dry for the following months, but torrential rains in September sparked new flooding, keeping emergency services on alert.

A mostly successful year for agriculture
Despite the weather swings, 2025 was largely favorable for agriculture.
Crop yields, including cereals, forage, potatoes, fruits and vegetables, were strong across the country, Agrimeteo said.
Viticulture also fared well: a dry spring and generally favourable growing conditions helped the vines, though September’s heavy rains made harvests trickier.
Local winemakers reported carefully selecting grapes during the harvest, but overall results were very positive, making 2025 a good year for Luxembourg wine.
