A rental car got into serious trouble in a large E6 underpass and ended up lying on its side on Andslimoen in Målselv municipality on Saturday morning.
“We have received a report about it and we have spoken with people at the scene. There is no suspicion of intoxication and there are no personal injuries.”
This is stated by operations manager Karl Erik Thomassen of the Troms Police District on Saturday morning.
There were Asian tourists in the car.
The alarm was raised when the report came in, and it quickly became clear that the situation was serious. The tourists left the scene, and the police have not been able to determine whether they were injured.
The police say it is possible that the driver did not realize there was a roundabout at the location, and by the time the driver became aware of it, it was too late and the car hit the guardrail. The vehicle then continued over the damaged guardrail before ending up on its side in the ditch on the road coming up from Industriveien and onto the E6 at Andslimoen.
“We have encouraged the driver to contact the rental company,” says Thomassen.
He says that Saturday’s incident fits well into a pattern of regular incidents in the police district.
“Foreign tourists are overrepresented,” says Thomassen regarding the many run-off-the-road accidents that occur during the day.

Now do this every time a Norwegian crashes their car.
Wait a minute. This is very limited info. Asian could be indian , chinese-type or jihad. Would be good to know which one and not censor it too much.
We can’t even have statistics in 2026 wth.
See alot of this. Many Chinese tourists that drive in the middle of the road during turns as if they were driving a one lane road. We gonna have deaths due to this sooner or later.
As a foreigner from warmer lands, I think completing an extra ice driving test should be mandatory for anyone that rents a car during autumn or winter (or wants to travel beyond the artic circle). If the locals have to go through it, it is not unreasonable at all to demand it to visitors.
So many accidents lately with Chinese tourists.
Asian people shouldn’t be allowed to drive here without a mandatory “glattkjøringskurs” finishing with an exam of sorts where they are rendered capable of handling the winter or just outright prohibited from driving in snowy conditions. It’s one thing to mess up your rental but the same lack of skill is also just as likely to end in a collision with possible fatal outcome, there’s no reason to be lenient with these tourists.
The stereotype about asian drivers is clearly not just a joke, these accidents are expected to happen in northern Norway every single winter from the same kind of tourists.
Lmao rekt 😮💨🤌
Anyways, stop renting cars for northern winter if you’re not used to proper winter conditions.
The ones who don’t tip over and drive slowly in the middle of the road is a danger too.
