Pilsudski is considered the founder of the modern Polish state. Born in a Polish family from the Russian Empire, he dedicated his youth to the fight for Poland’s independence from Russia. He was expelled from the medical school as a student and deported to Siberia, where he was "college" of prison with the sea Constantin Stere. Pilsudski supported, in his writings, the cause of the Bessarabians oppressed by the Russian Empire. In the First World War, he organized the Polish Legions, which fought against the Russian Empire.
But the great merit of Pilsudski was the miraculous victory in rthe Polish-Soviet azboi. In the interwar period, it cultivated very close relations with Romania (even a regiment of the Polish Army was named after King Carol II of Romania). Pilsudski supported the idea that all peoples Eastern European countries must collaborate closely against a Russian aggression, and that only united can they resist.
In a visit to Romania in 1922, Pilsudski declared:
the alliance of hearts is represented, from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea, by one people with two flags
Pilsudski also supported the idea of Prometheus, that is, supporting the peoples still oppressed by the Russians to win their independence.
That’s why I say, Pilsudski was very well-founded, it would take a lot of cojones from the authorities to make him a statue. In Romania there are streets named after him, a statue of him in Bucharest, and a battalion of the Romanian Army bears his name. )
