Can we have a discussion about how far Luxair has sunk? Currently on my return flight and the spacing of the seats on this 737-700 is just horrendous, I feel like Ryanair has more. On the 737 Max on the first journey it was fine, but this is ridiculous. Also the app is horrendous providing no updates and not remembering previously inputed information. How is this possible with their distinctly premium pricing. Also this is not a charter flight but a regular route.

  1. You could have flown business class, so your neighbouring seat would have been free and put your bag in the overhead compartment, which would have allowed you to extend your legs under the seat in front of you.

I am not a Luxair stan, there are things I am not happy with but this lack of space complaint is not an issue I can relate to.

  2. Maybe it’s just slight differences in the specific seat selected? As there is almost no difference in seat pitch between the 737-700 and 737 Max. Both are reported as 29-30” of pitch for LX.

  3. Agree in regard to their 737, can be quite a pain to spend 3-4 hours in there😵‍💫

  4. I totally get that the seat pitch on this aircraft feels uncomfortable especially if you’re comparing it to your previous leg on the dash8. That said, this isn’t really an issue of Luxair “having sunk,” but rather a specific aircraft configuration.

The 737 is an older aircraft type, and seat spacing varies by layout, and certification, not by brand image or ticket price. You’ll find similarly tight (or even tighter) configurations across many airlines, including so-called premium carriers. This can, and does, happen at almost any airline depending on which aircraft you’re scheduled on that day.

Totally fair to criticise seat comfort and the app experience as those are valid points but suggesting overall decline ignores how much of this comes down to fleet limitations and seat configuration, not a conscious downgrade of passenger care. Even Ryanair and legacy carriers alike face the same physical constraints once a layout is certified.

Cry baby – that space looks kinda normal to me. if you need more space because you‘re tall you can buy a seat with extra space like on every other airline. If you go cheap don’t complain.

Luxair has a great service and is definitely one of the better airlines out there.

  6. What’s your complaint? Your knees aren’t even touching the seat in front of you!? I guess you’re on the smaller side.

Sorry for the sarcasm, but there’s a reason I’m glad that I didn’t take any flight in the last 8 years. And it’s very clear to me that in the future any flight longer than 2 hours it’ll be at least Premium Economy or I’ll give it a pass. I rather miss out on some destinations.

Flying is disgraceful. But it’s also a question of self-respect, i.e. if you’re willing to submit yourself to flying economy. In my experience it has nothing to do with Luxair but is a generalized issue.

(I’m not even *that* tall, slightly under 1.9m)
