Many office workers return to their hometowns during the New Year holidays, and it seems that people tend to relax more than they would during other consecutive holidays. The more deeply relaxed they are during the holidays, the more difficult it becomes to return to a stressful workplace.

    Many people resign at the end of the year because they want to start fresh on the new year. The company, also, prefer to have new recruits start at the start of the new year. Employee, also, want to collect their year end bonus before quitting.

    I’ve switched jobs several times myself and that was it for me. The new company wanted me to come at the start of the new year instead of November or December.

    The workers market is getting better in Japan lately with many people freely switching jobs. With less stigma attached to switching, there’s no need to stay at a toxic workplace anymore.
