The consumer confidence indicator increased slightly in December, with an improvement in perspectives on the evolution of the country’s economic situation and on expectations of making significant purchases, according to statistics released by the INE (National Institute of Statistics).
The improvement in the confidence indicator follows a decrease in November, resulting from “positive contributions from perspectives on the future evolution of the country’s economic situation and the undertaking of significant purchases by families,” explains the National Institute of Statistics (INE) in its summary of business and consumer surveys.
Conversely, “expectations regarding the household’s financial situation and opinions on the past evolution of the household’s financial situation registered negative contributions” to the consumer index.
