  1. So are all these revolts running concurrently or will they schedule them to avoid clashing?

  2. Harambes_Wrath_ on

Im not a fan of Starmer but why must a British PM do anything??

Under what obligation are we required to comment?

The Venezuela incident would of happened no matter who the POTUS is. America needs an alternative oil source now that Russia and Iran are offline.

To be fair to Trump he really did push to get Russia back online. Part of being POTUS is doing what the industrialists and economists advise and selling that advice to the citizens of America. Thankfully nothing to do with us Brits.

If Starmer was smart he could use this regime change to help the territory dispute in Guyana, but this sort of thinking isnt baseline for most politicians let alone lawyers.

  3. Can labour mps go five minutes without a revolt please.

On the other hand Trmp and co need to be called out. Seriously, what is the government scared will happen if we say it how we see it?

  4. In the UK we judge actions based on intent. Putin invaded Ukraine for the security of Russia. Trump invaded Venezuela to steal resources. One of those is worse than the other, and the fact that our leadership cannot condemn the actions of the US, is a tragedy for the country. This will seriously damage our reputation.

  5. There’s nothing he can do. I am very confused what Labour MPs aim to achieve, alienate yet another major trade partner? Have they considered what the outcome could be if little Trumpy gets so pissed off with Europe he won’t support the Ukraine at all anymore? The Ukraine needs those weapons and that intel, whether we like it or not.

International politics isn’t about being rash. It’s a thinking man’s game and Trump will soon realise he isn’t particularly good at thinking. Keir Starmer has the personality of a wet blanket, but at least he can think better than Trump.

Would be nice if one of these constant revolts actually did, you know, do the revolt.

  7. Really wanted labour to succeed but the fucking nitwits on their backbench make it so difficult to root for them. Will be glad to see the back of them in a few years time, so many useless MPs.

  8. CharmingCatastrophe on

If they dislike what trump is doing and dislikes the fact our government is ignoring his crimes..boy they won’t be happy with farage 😂

  9. Galacticmetrics on

I wonder will Trump now get the Biden administration $25 million bounty on Murado?

  10. Like fuck off. What is the UK going to do? Shut up and sort the fucking mess we have here.

Labour’s MPs always seem to want perfection – must be like trying to herd cats! They have empathy for everyone apart from their leader. They should speak quietly behind closed doors if they want to stay in power – if they let in Nige there will be far more to complain about. Maybe they are all little emperors only out for themselves?

  12. The UK didn’t even recognise Maduro or his government. Why is action against them suddenly deserving of condemnation?

  13. There’s no point in condemning Trump – it’s literally pointless posturing at this stage when it comes to condemning America for their actions and until we increase our ties with Europe again we’re stuck between a rock and hard place. As much as I loathe to write all the above it’s just simply the way I see it.

  14. His statement is in line with many other US allies, so it i imagine Starmer is just playing the game carefully.

Also who knows, maybe this will be better for Venezuela in the longer term. The US did the same with Panama, and they turned into one of the safest and most well-off countries in Latin America. Governments in Venezuela have been stealing their own resources for years now anyway. Inflation was at over 200% before Maduro was captured, and it’s true he was an illegitimate leader who took power via corruption.

The only thing that really matters is will this leader to a better future for the average Venezuelan?

I really hope the Government is secretly disentangling us from the US. Those guys are seriously unstable. (I wouldn’t expect them to be being public about it though)

  16. Shawn_The_Sheep777 on

It’s Richard Burgon. No brains. He needs to have some balls and join Your Party or whatever his mate Corbyn calls it now.

  17. WillowTreeBark on

‘Quick! Revolt! Starmer is being diplomatically smart and we much prefer him to try and destroy relationships with existing allies!’

Get a fucking grip. The left of Labour are the destroyers of Labour and will for ever be remembered as the side of a party happily destroying their chances of governing past 5 years.

  18. Absolute fools. It’s easy being ideological when you’re paid from tax money. The rest of the people are the ones who would suffer if Trump wanted to screw with us economically.

  19. Atlantean_Raccoon on

He should scrape by with opposition support, just heard the Shadow Home Office Minister Matt Vickers say that the US action was ok because Maduro lost the election (and yet his deputy from the same party is now America’s satrap in Caracas). Vickers also flatly refused to condemn American threats to our allies and friends Denmark and Greenland.

So an act of which the population of Venezuela is actively celebrating world wide

The British government is currently trying to scream its naughty and wrong

………….. so labour supports a literal dictator the progressive left at its finest everyone

  21. Starmer will say “Mr Trump, what you did was very naughty and you should say sorry to the Venezuelan people”

Then nothing will happen because why should the US president listen to anything he says.

  22. Omg just get rid of him and be done with it if that’s the plan I don’t know how many months I can go hearing about revolts or stalls being set up, just shit or get off the toilet.

  23. MilkyCowTits1312 on

Everyone in here asking ‘what is the UK supposed to do’ are missing the point entirely and actively telling on themselves for it.

  24. Way too many Labour MP’s just want to be in opposition, oppose literally anything and everything instead of being in government.

  25. Is this going to be one of them things that constantly gets brought up when we list all the reasons why Labour is shit, as if us condemning it would restrain Trump in any way?

If anything this shows that we need to pivot away from the US as quickly as possible while keeping them onside as long as possible.

  26. Due-Resort-2699 on

I’m glad to see Maduro go but it doesn’t change the fact that Trump is out of control. It’s not just Venezuela, he’s talking about Colombia, Mexico, Cuba and he’s back onto Greenland again.

I get America has been our closest ally for the best part of a century, but it’s now a rogue state . Do we really want to be associated with this insanity ?

  27. culture_vulture_1961 on

A Labour Government in a deep international crisis (aka Trump) does not have the luxury of indulging in student politics. They learned that lesson with Corbyn. Labour MPs need to shut the fuck up and let the grownups sort it out.

  28. So they’re actively encouraging him to stand up to the world’s toddler bully? I get it, he should, despite being a spineless toff prick, but I think we probably want to be one of the few countries that keeps the US relatively simpatico for a while. As much as I want Starmer to grow a pair, dangling that pair in front of Trump right now seems a bit… risky?

  29. Trump kidnaps another leader of a sovereign nation declaring war, “I need to consider the facts”. Oh but when it comes to Putin…
