  1. > In a statement to CBC News, Air Canada says it’s already competitive “with the best in the world.”

There is no way they said this with a straight face.

Good. Air Canada and west jet are abysmal. Put a fire under their asses and for the love of god stop bailing out ac with our tax dollars.

  3. As someone who flies these routes quite frequently, Air Canada does provide great service and value for money on these long haul flights to East Asia, West Asia and South Asia. The difference between their service to these regions and to other destinations in the Americas is quite stark and surprising. Their flights to Europe are a hit or a miss.

I flew Emirates to Thailand and it was the best flight I’ve ever taken. Air Canada not so much

  5. Not truly a real competition. Emirates targets a completly different customer type vs AC. So it’s not like the prices will go down because of this. If they want to do something about it then they should open the market for low cost carriers. In Europe the prices are so low because the competition among this type of carrier is fierce(Wizz,Ryan and so on)

I’d love to see Southwest in Canada. Mostly for flights 2 hrs or less, super efficient, inexpensive.

  7. No one is stopping Air Canada to starting multiple new direct flights from Canada to South Asia and East Asia if they want to be more competitive then Middle Eastern Airlines.
