The ballerina Svetlana Zakharova and her violinist husband Vadim Repin are due to appear at the Maggio Musicale theatre in Florence on January 20 and 21. Both are closely associated with the Putin regime. The Kremlin website reports that Zakharova recently briefed Putin on the couple’s efforts to fulfil his directive to organize Russian festivals abroad.
This much is business as usual.
Less expected is the credit at the foot of their Florentine programme, thanking the NextGenerationEU fund for underwriting their Putin-promoting enterprise.
