  1. During the dry years, the people forgot about the rich years, and when the wet years returned, they lost all memory of the dry years.

  2. Can someone answer this for me. When there’s no drought (white). Is that based on average rainfall? Is it below average to see additional drought? Or is it typical in the dry season to see some levels of drought?

    notably, the graph gets far more precise in the last 10 years. Down to the within-county level of precision. First few years of the graph are very vague borders

    You can see the bad drought in California in early 2010s. It’s more noticeable due to the length of time which isn’t seen elsewhere even though other droughts come more often
