North Korea’s state-run media outlet has reported that the country’s leader Kim Jong Un has visited the construction site of a museum honoring soldiers sent to Russia.

Korean Central Television said on Tuesday that Kim visited the site of the Memorial Museum of Combat Feats at the Overseas Military Operations in Pyongyang on Monday.

Photos show Kim taking part in a tree-planting ceremony with his daughter, and taking snapshots with soldiers working at the site.

Kim stressed the significance of the museum, saying its completion would show the world the immortality of North Korea and the invincibility of the Korean People’s Army.

He added that nobody in the world can match such an army as those who readily dedicate their lives to the dignity and fame of their motherland.

Kim called for the facility to be constructed at the highest level.

South Korean media say that by touting the soldier dispatch as an accomplishment, Kim apparently wants to unite his ruling party before the upcoming party congress.
