What’s a Canadian MP doing as an adviser for a foreign government?

  1. Honestly, she should immediately resign as soon as she takes a position with a foreign country.

It’s a little outrageous to have such a conflict of interest as an MP.

“On Monday morning, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had appointed Ms. Freeland as an economic development adviser, citing her “***extensive experience in attracting investment and implementing economic transformations.***”

I’m pretty sure that’s a euphemism for “*she sold the narrative of Ukraine being a worthy cause to a bunch of Canadian chumps, something only Canada was gullible to accept to such a large extent that they are actually proud of it, so she deserves a promotion”*

I was more concerned when she was a PM and Minister – it sounds super suspect but let her go, hopefully she defeat putin with all the money she already squeezed out of us, and she can live happily ever after on her cut of the take over there and never return. She should resign on Wednesday – her loyalty is more questionable than before.

if she comes back, she should be tried as a foreign agent.

  3. There are bigger things in the world to be upset about other than an MP you don’t like getting a new job and resigning her current one. It’s like people have to be angry all the time. How do you not have wicked ulcers?

  4. I question her allegiances while she was in power. Was she making decisions to benefit Canadians or was she making decisions to benefit foreign governments? Warrants a review for sure.

To keep it simple for simple folk: Trump has quite the relationship with her. To quote his highness: “Her behavior was totally toxic, and not at all conducive to making deals which are good for the very unhappy citizens of Canada. She will not be missed!!!”

  6. It being an “unpaid volunteer” position makes this entire situation much more questionable to me. Ukraine is going through a corruption scandal, she was the finance minister who helped arrange Billions in funding to them, and now she’s quitting her elected position to work for free? Honestly, if this was a Conservative doing this under a Conservative PM, the media would make this out to be the biggest scandal in years, and they would be right in doing so.

  7. Conservatives try not to be triggered by anything and everything challenge: **IMPOSSIBLE**

Regardless of what it is, she should resign immediately rather than on an indefinite date several weeks or months from now. Not resigning at an appropriate time shows poor judgement and voting on legislation that impacts the funding of your new employer is a clear conflict of interest.

The mental gymnastics by the Liberal supporters thinking this is just like taking a new job at a different factory are hilarious. She was recruited for a position in a foreign government as a sitting MP and has had ties to that foreign nation as well. God knows how long she has been influenced by Ukraine while having an active role in government and been a cabinent minister. She undoubtedly has confidential information about the Canadian government, economic strategy, etc.

Now I want to see Danielle Smith take an advisor position in Washington while still being an elected official to see the cognitive dissonance really flow.

Carney new 2 weeks ago and they delayed the announcement as the Liberals were actively courting more MP’s to floor cross.
She’s there to oversee the funds as there has been a lot of embezzlement.
