A really easy, affordable hack to keep your home cooler for the heatwave. It’s really easy and not too late to construct. Took me 20 minutes and less than $10.

Nice work, That looks like a medieval pavise, a portable defense that archers would use to shoot from.

I’m so glad I picked a south facing apartment. This is my first summer after moving from Hobart, where 3 days over 25C is a heatwave.

  2. We got our windows tinted last year and it’s made an absolutely huge difference to internal temps. Even with our shit ducted cooking system.

Hopefully it does concentrate the heat into your neighbour’s windows.
    Good work.
    You should survive the week.

First up: it’s **aluminium** — *al-yoo-MIN-ee-um*. We’re Australian, not American.

Second: if you’re going to do the foil thing, it needs to go **outside** the window. Putting it inside just lets the glass heat up and dump that heat into the room anyway. The foil only helps if it reflects the sun **before** it gets through the glass. Inside is basically placebo cooling.

    Thank you.

People in the U.K. wet sheets/towels and hang them in front of a fan to help make the air feel cooler.

Also, go to the cinema, a Westfield or something where they do pump the aircon.
