Early screening (10.30am) of Spongebob movie at Odeon Cinema Hornsby for school holidays. Took my daughter and there was literally nobody else there.
It's a charming old cinema that I've always preferred over Event/Hoyts, and I've watched a handful of movies here over the years, but I wonder if they can survive? Adult tickets $19, child tickets $13. Choc tops $6.

What a beautiful cinema. Always prefer these to the modern ones
That’s my dream. I love going to the theatres but the last few years it’s just been ruined by other cinema goers. I really don’t understand why people pay money to go and talk or disrupt other people. I even had it happen in a gold class session, where a verbal argument between two seperate couples persisted through the latter half of the movie. I tried to have a word with one of them afterwards (admittedly in a frustrated manner) and he was about as bright as you would expect.
TIL there is a cinema at Hornsby.
Man if it’s empty on school holidays, cinemas are truly dieing.
saw the original Ghostbusters there as a kid – and as a teenager sat through a few overnight movie marathons. Great memories
6 buck choc tops is good value these days. Can you pick me up one? Delivery in the shire!
Ah, the Odeon! When I was a kid, I went there on a school excursion to see the first Harry Potter film. There was a power outage due to a storm, and the movie cut to black about 30-minutes in. Just as they were about to reach Hogwarts, too! Â We all had to leave the cinema and were so gutted haha.
I’m always happy to support the Odeon, any chance I get.
I dunno how cinemas make money these days. Gotra make sure we support them
Nothing has changed there in 40 years! Always used to see movies there when I was a kid.
Like the aesthetic but my arse does not enjoy that seat
