The US dollar would likely catapult into hyper-inflation more or less over a few weeks, which will be more than sufficient inducement to see the Congress forced into a cold panic, what matters at that point is restoring stability.
What’s more likely, A single Republican defects to be an independent or switches party and the Congress can demand an impeachment of the President; especially if the President’s actions collapse the dollar. So long as Donald Trump’s rantings are performative and not effective or military in real terms – things are fine. The minute he bites off more than **we** can chew – it’s over.
But I’d also venture to guess his support among MAGA disappears overnight, because with war doesn’t just come tariffs , there would be trillions of dollars in sanctions, with export shipments policed at the ports or subject to seizure or attack. Imports don’t just slow down they stop, cold. No cars, no computers, no fuel.
Within weeks it’s virtually certain we’d see domestic or internationally sponsored sabotage blacking out cities, and large portions of under-defended domestic critical infrastructure – from schools to stock-markets. This sort of attack was virtually unknown during WW2 , during a NATO war against the United States, dozens of near-peer nation-states would be dead-set on attacking US infrastructure. I doubt that infrastructure survives more than a few weeks.
