This is a snow refuge on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada in southern Spain, near Granada. I shot this in January 2023 during a big trip to Spain – it was a very, very cold day and I went up to the slopes at dawn to get some photography. I was struck by this incredibly strong triangular structure built to shelter people from the snow, and the developing blizzard behind it. You can see the mountains and the snow running over them.
It was shot on my Nikon Z 6 II – 1/20th of a second, f/2.8, ISO 25,600 at 200mm. Pretty extreme settings because it was very dark (pre-dawn) and the blizzard was strong, so there wasn’t much light at all. I had to use everything I could to get the shot. I’m pretty sure this was handheld as well, but I quite like the soft focus on the rest of the image that draws attention to the structure in the middle.
Right after I took this, it started snowing heavily and I had to leave the mountain, so I was glad I got this when I did. You can see more of my minimal outdoor work over on Instagram if this kind of thing appeals to you.

Itās not necessarily a snow shelter, there are proper shelters around. Thatās just a stand for a statue of Our Lady of the Snows, thatās on top of it (covered in snow in your pic).
It is not a refuge. It is an open air monument. There is no shelter from the weather.
Isnt a refuge supposed to have 4 walls and a roof?
That thing is an arch.
If you looked to the right there is a wall with runes where you can learn a new shout and find a chest with some baubles… Do not touch the altar tho.
