Very disappointing if the Mercosur deal is used to undermine our world class food standards.

The country is already flooded with imported chicken from places like Thailand and China, much of which goes into food service and manufacturing, without any ‘country of origin’ labeling.

Even see it creeping into low grade chicken in supermarkets, only saving grace there is that it’s usually indicated on the packet.

  2. Europe is supposedly GMO free but most of our pork is fed on GMO feed imported from Brazil.

Why are we allowing our world class meat and dairy market be infiltrated with shite .

Wait till we also sell out to the US. Hormone “enriched” beef and chlorinated chickens for everyone 🎉

  5. That’s got to be good for the environment hasn’t it. What’s the carbon footprint of that muck.

Yeah go to Dublin and open up Grindr and all you see is hormoned Brasilian beef, I say we bring more!

Everyone in government is protecting their future EU jobs.

Even if it wouldn’t make a difference to the end result it is important that they object to Mercasor so that our opinions are heard.

Them allowing it to go through without a peep is a betrayal to Irish farmers.

  8. Lads, is it just me or are the steaks here awful. In restaurants, Tesco and Lidl. I was in Mallorca and the beef was 50 times nicer. Same in Lanzarote. Any Brazilian beef I’ve had was also excellent. The Irish stuff is tough and tasteless as far as I have experienced.

The people championing this deal, are either ill informed or bent….

The environmental damage from Brazilian beef is significantly worse than our own and that’s before you account for his long journey to European shores.

And there is of course their piss poor standards.

I really worry that the catering companies that will be providing school meals, hospital food will be using this rubbish beef and it won’t be made clear that it’s not Irish beef
