    Crack in the window. How should I proceed?


    Hello,

    I woke up to this crack on my window. It is inside, but I don’t know how this happened. I usually open up the window completely to air out the room, so maybe it hit an object that was on the counter…

    Anyways, I am unsure how to proceed. Should I contact my landlord first,, contact the Haftpflichtversicherung first (mine says it covers damages in rented rooms)?

      I don’t know if temperature could cause this, but the locality makes something hit more probable I think

      First, send this to yours landlord. If you have an insurance, send also this to them.

      It is not your fault. Ask an anyone who works with windows. The crack originates on the edge of the glass. I doubt your insurance would even pay for it and tell you it is not your fault. That said it is common for leases in Germany to require tenants to cover a certain amount of annual repair costs.
