It was bad, but Twitter fixed it pretty quickly. And for all the people that say any slip up here is unacceptable, maybe look into how long the website you are reading this post on shamelessly hosted much worse content.

I use it for sports news so the garbage I see is extremely limited. Took a while to tailor my algorithm but it’s finally clean.

  3. This is honestly a dumb take. It’s like telling people to stay off the street because that’s where crime happens.

At least X posts are traceable. We aren’t ready for when AI platforms are controlled by truly hostile agencies.

  4. People go on this app now, find a picture of some clothed woman, and then ask grok to put them in a bikini. I even saw someone put Maduro in a bikini. It’s pretty gross.

  5. There is not a single reason any Canadian government account needs to be on Twitter. A social media platform who’s owner is actively working to undermine the sovereignty of our country.

Trust me, the people doing illegal things get caught, and ai is getting to the point now where if you even type the wrong word into your phone, you might get a knock on your door from the authorities.

  7. Government should be using something decentralized like meshtastic for distributing important information. They’re super cheap devices and totally separated from corporate control.

  8. Elon destroyed Twitter the day he gutted it and threw it in the back of a uhaul van.

    It’s only gotten worse since.

Remember when Elon warned of the existential threat of unmanaged AI and claimed that xAI was his way of bearing the cross of AI safety, transparency, and truth-seeking, ultimately solving poverty and disease, and making human labour optional? Non-consensual porn feels like a significant departure from that.

  10. I don’t think I’ve ever posted a “tweet”. But the platform reaches a massive audience and can be a useful tool to get messages out. Doubt having them post to 31 different platforms instead even comes close to the reach X has..

    Like it or not.

  11. People are still on Twitter. I left the moment nut-bag there purchased it. And I know of several clients, many government funded in Canada, who cancelled their accounts after last year’s inauguration.

I’m surprised anyone is still on it. It’s a useless platform. And staying on to “stick it to the man” is not doing what you think it’s doing.

Added: If you’re on twitter, all I imagine is someone desperately typing into their phone, farting out random thoughts in an attempt to find people who will like them. Get off it… it’s the worst platform

Government should never have been on there in the first place and certainly not after the Elon Nazi salute incident or his multiple threats against our sovereignty.

Politicians won’t be leaving twitter so long as they can easily access both the sheep who use it and their child porn. Why do you think no politician actually left after Elon bought it? Nothing actually changed, it’s always been a cesspool

  14. I don’t believe the government should get off Twiter/X, because a lot of news is still shared through it and it reaches enough people for it to be very important. People who don’t have Twitter will eventually see it crossposted to another platform, or a news article makes reference to it, etc.

Find a better alternative and maybe I’d agree with some of the senators calling for the government to leave Twitter.

  15. world is becoming so tech focused and our leaders are boomers who wouldn’t even know what a url or pdf is. can’t even maneuver their way around twitter. what a pathetic joke.

In today’s episode of “60yr old woman discovers porn is available on the internet”…

No one cares about the porn. You can get porn anywhere. Liberals love Reddit and Reddit is one of the primary acces point of all porn on the internet now.

What they care about is that conservatives have coopted X/Twitter and now that it has community lead fact checking it’s a very effective medium for conservative media and pundits to communicate with their base and verify the integrity of government claims.

They don’t want to get community noted when they post liberal propaganda.

  17. ObjectBrilliant7592 on

No. At it’s core, it’s just another communication channel and it would be a mistake for the government to not use it.

I don’t really like twitter that much and don’t use it regularly, but it is great when you want to discuss real time events. Every other social media platform except for Meta properties is censored to shit, so it’s hard to rely on them for really breaking or controversial news. Videos of the recent Venezuela bombing, for instance, where all over X/twitter before reddit, youtube, facebook or other social media sites even heard about it.

Knowing politicians, the whole Grok situation (removing clothes from people in pics, including minors) is probably going to have them on Twitter more than ever.
