SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Mammoth forward JJ Peterka will represent his country on the ice next month in Milan after being named to Team Germany’s roster on Wednesday morning.

Peterka joins Mammoth goaltender Karel Vejmelka, defenseman Olli Määttä and captain Clayton Keller, who will make his Olympic debut with Team USA.

The 2026 Games will be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, from Feb. 6-22, 2026.

Utah Mammoth forward JJ Peterka to make Olympic debut for Germany

After representing Germany in multiple World Championship events, Peterka will make his Olympic debut for his country in Milan.

“Super pumped,” Peterka said. “Super excited for it. Coach and GM called me. Super good feeling. Can’t wait to get to it, to play with all the guys from Germany.”

“[I’ll play] with Leon Draisaitl for the first time so it’ll be exciting.”

In his first season with the Mammoth after being traded from Buffalo this past summer, Peterka has registered 15 goals and 14 assists in 43 games.

“It’s pretty cool. Representing Utah on the Olympic stage. Just overall, a cool feeling to share that moment with the other guys that got selected,” Peterka explained.

Germany will begin the tournament against Denmark on February 12.

They will then face Keller and the United States on February 14.

Utah Mammoth Captain Clayton Keller named to Team USA

Despite some uncertainty and somewhat of a down year in terms of production, Keller has earned himself a spot on USA’s Olympic roster with a complete body of work over the last 15 months.

In addition to being named Utah’s first ever captain, Keller finished the 2024/25 season with 60 assists (second-most among all Americans in the NHL) and 90 total points (third-most among all Americans).

“It means everything,” Keller said in regard to representing the United States. “It’s the best feeling ever. I loved so much my time playing at the U.S. program. Can’t thank them enough for my development and just everything. Shaped me into the person I am today.”

Utah Mammoth Goaltender Karel Vejmelka to make Olympic debut for Czechia

After representing Czechia in multiple World Championship events, Vejmelka will make his Olympic debut for his country in Milan.

Despite finishing sixth at World Championships this past summer, Vejmelka was excellent between the pipes for Czechia as he finished with three wins, 2.98 GAA and a .902 save percentage.

Through 31 appearances for Utah this season, Vejmelka owns a record of 18-11-2 (tied for first in the NHL) with a 2.70 GAA and .896 save percentage.

Czechia will begin the tournament against Team Canada on February 12.

What’s next for the Utah Mammoth?

The Utah Mammoth will begin a seven-game home stand against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. MT.

The game will be available on Mammoth+.
