Just to let folk know, nearly 90% of these pigs are killed using [torturous gas chambers](https://youtu.be/eVebmHMZ4bQ). They’re not gently falling asleep and all your RSPCA assured stuff goes through the exact same.

If you think you care about animal suffering, try not to join this trend

  2. No real mystery surely? Pork is comparatively cheap. Beef has reached insane levels, £6 for 500g of beef shin in Sainsburys today. That’s pretty much the cheapest cut you can get your hands on.

It’s dirt cheap is why. £6 a kg in Morrisons vs £15-20 for lamb and beef. And they regularly have it on offer for £2/kg.

  4. Just stop eating animals goddamnit. It’s mind boggling that we carry on with this as a species. It’s not even healthy nutritionally.

  5. well, it’s cheap and tasty and goes well with a high array of dishes. It’s just neat.

  6. Once people realise pork curry works and is actually great, it’s gonna seriously kick off.
Pork shoulder in a pressure cooker to make a meat curry in under an hour is insanity.

Pork mince with some low salt beef stock cubes works fine instead of beef mince.

The shops are going to hike prices like they did with boneless chicken thighs if they have caught on.

Hmmm post-Covid farmers were struggling to sell pork. Strange how things turn around. Of course with the price of beef skyrocketing it’s little wonder people are turning to other meats. Won’t be long before pork becomes too expensive, followed by chicken. Lamb is already extortionate.

Don’t really eat too much beef these days, mainly chicken or fish. . Went into tesco yesterday and wanted some thighs, they were wiped out of chicken by about 90% looked over at the overflowing stacked shelves of steaks. £6:50 for a standard rib eye😳! I bought 1 but wondered 🤔. How many people are not buying it compared to say 5yrs ago. I remember eating steak 3/4 times a week and didn’t sweat the price one bit.

  10. So sad to see the trend move towards those of poorer Asian countries where pork is the cheapest meat therefore the most consumed

Crazy to think in England, one of the richest countries in the world, the public is being priced out of chicken and beef of all things

It’s also unfortunate that beef and chicken being healthier than pork for the most part, that due to rising costs and struggling families that now even health is also being compromised

Something needs to change, but it won’t

Usually don’t eat much pork but saw 500g of pork mince for £2.50 right next to 500g of beef mince for £5.20 in Sainsbury’s just last week and picked up the pork mince. Funny to see this soon after

  12. I’ve recently rediscovered grilled pork chops. So quick to bang in an air fryer with some steamed veg and potatoes.

  13. Afre having the worst food poisoning ever from pork I rarely touch it nowadays… But it is a ton cheaper than beef and lamb.

  14. Pork has always been a great product to feed your family on. Beef ranchers love the big dollars it brings and for some reason it still does. I go see my butcher couple times a month find a sirloin roast or if I’m feeling flush tenderloin. It’s big bucks but once or twice a month my wife and I keep happy on pork, chicken and veg 🤷‍♂️

Got what it takes, my wife.

    Got friends round.

    Got roast pork for lunch.

Plenty of taste, British Pork – real value for money.

Fred’s got plenty. Arthur’s got plenty. We’ve all got plenty.

    Plenty to go around.

My wife’s got what it takes.

Will be the next thing to go through the roof that people have coincidentally pivoted to because of other options becoming stupidly expensive.

Same pattern, over and over and over……and we just keep lapping it up.

  17. We do our weekly shop at Aldi but sometimes haven’t had a chance to go and need to grab something from Waitrose for dinner which is nearby. They have 500g of 12% pork mince for £2.50, can’t beat it for price and usually make a quick nice stir fry with it. Sorts us for lunch at work the next day too.

10% mince is over £5 for 500g and they don’t tend to do chicken or turkey mince which are usually decent lean and cheap options as well.

Personally I’ve just rediscovered how lovely sausages and egg sandwiches are over Christmas and I’m all in
