From a hills FB post:
🚫 Please Don’t Visit the Hills Tomorrow – Friday 9 January 🚫
A gentle but very serious request from those of us who live in the Dandenongs:
Yes, it’s usually about 5 degrees cooler up here than on the flatlands.
Yes, it’s beautiful, shady and green and a lovely place to escape the heat.
But tomorrow is not the day to come up for a drive, a walk, a picnic or a café visit.
Tomorrow is a high-risk fire day for our area. The more people and cars on the mountain, the more complicated and dangerous things become if a fire starts:
• More cars on narrow, winding roads
• More pressure on already-limited parking and access
• More people for emergency services to factor into their response
We’re asking you, with genuine respect and care:
👉 Please don’t visit the Dandenong Ranges tomorrow.
Don’t risk your life, your family’s lives, the lives of the people who live here, or the safety of our amazing emergency services by adding extra cars and crowds into the mix.
There will be many other cooler, safer days to enjoy the hills.
Tomorrow, the kindest and safest thing you can do for this community is to stay away.

The National Park itself is also entirely closed tomorrow, alongside the majority of parks within the extreme and catstrophic fire danger zones.

Good Advice…
I just checked the Vic emergency app and can’t believe the fire near Seymour. Doubled in a few hours (ish)
I live on the edge of them. Really hoping everyone stays safe tomorrow. I’ve got the bird bath full.
Yeah, they’ve cancelled all our work out Whittlesea way since Wed. 5 day weekend is nice I guess.
Some of you are alright.
Don’t come to the Dandenongs tomorrow.
Just don’t go anywhere if you live in melbourne if you live in the regions partical in an area with warnings time to piss the hell off
Most of our businesses will inact their bushfire safely plan too, so majority of things will be closed as well. No reason to come up here.
