Greece continues to rank among the most sought-after destinations for US travelers, earning another major distinction in the American tourism market.
The country was named Best Tourism Destination for the fifth consecutive year at the GT Tested Reader Survey Awards 2025, organized by Global Traveler. The recognition underscores Greece’s sustained popularity and strong brand presence in one of its most vital long-haul markets.
Awards based exclusively on reader voting
The GT Tested Reader Survey Awards are widely regarded as a credible benchmark within the global travel industry, as winners are determined solely by reader votes. The 2025 edition marked the 22nd year of the survey and included over ninety categories worldwide, spanning destinations, airlines, airports, hotels, tourism services, and financial products.
Voting took place between December 12, 2024, and August 31, 2025, with participation from subscribers and readers of Global Traveler’s print and digital editions. In the Best Tourism Destination category, Ireland ranked second, followed by Spain in third place.

The awards ceremony took place in Miami on December 17, 2025, where Greece received both the Best Tourism Destination 2025 award and the distinction of Best Tourism Destination for the Fifth Consecutive Year. Konstantinos Charokopos, head of the Greek National Tourism Organisation’s North America office, accepted the honors on behalf of the country.
The latest award further reinforces Greece’s position as a top choice for US travelers seeking cultural heritage, natural beauty, and diverse travel experiences.
