There is a free start, everyone can start at a time of their choosing, but we want everyone to arrive around 11 p.m. Then we can toast together afterwards.”
This playful initiative is more than just a stunt. “Running is a very accessible sport. You put on your trainers and you can start right from home. We want to keep the marathon affordable for everyone. Golazo currently has a monopoly on it, which is not right in a city like Ghent. To be clear, we have nothing against the event itself. Dus ze profiteren van al het werk dat de organisatie al gedaan heeft? Als ze echt een punt willen maken, zouden ze toch beter een andere route nemen die niet al is afgezet om te bewijzen dat het echt niks kost om een marathon te lopen, nee?
The Antwerp 10 Miles kost €50 (of was het €30?) om deel te nemen als ik mij niet vergis. Ik neem aan dat dat geld gaat naar heel de stad afzetten en het verkeer in goede banen leiden. De 10 Miles is 16 km. Deze marathon (42 km) is dus goedkoper (per km gelopen) dan de 10 Miles.
