LINCOLN, Neb. — Turkey hunting season is on the horizon, and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is urging hunters to secure their permits early.
Starting at 1 p.m. on Jan. 12, permits will be available for purchase.
Hunters are reminded they may only harvest one turkey per day during the spring season, and all harvests must be reported via Telecheck at OutdoorNebraska.gov/Hunt/Telecheck or by phone at 844-279-4564.
Resident permits, including the issuing fee, are priced at $34, while nonresident permits cost $158.
Landowner permits are available for $18.50 for residents and $80.50 for nonresidents. Youth permits are $8.50.
The commission notes that nonresident permits are capped at 10,000 and have sold out quickly in recent years, while resident permits are unlimited and available through the end of the season. Both residents and nonresidents can obtain up to two permits in total.
The spring archery season kicks off on March 25, followed by the youth shotgun season on April 11, and the regular shotgun season on April 18.
All spring turkey seasons will conclude on May 31. For more information or to purchase permits, visit OutdoorNebraska.gov or a permitting office starting Jan. 12.
