NFL stadiums switching from turf to grass fields for 2026 World Cup
USA TODAY NFL columnist Jarrett Bell breaks down why NFL stadiums are installing grass fields for the 2026 World Cup, and why turf will return after.
Four global soccer powers are coming to the United States in March as they continue preparing for the 2026 World Cup.
France, Brazil, Colombia and Croatia will play four friendlies, with two in Orlando, Florida and one each in the Washington, D.C. area and Boston area.
The matches will be the final chance for all four teams to gather ahead of this year’s World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada this summer.
On March 26, Brazil will face France at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. and Colombia will take on Croatia at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
France will face Colombia on March 29 at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md., with the four-game “Road to 26” series concluding on March 31 with a game between Brazil and Croatia at Camping World Stadium.
Brazil and France are both in the top five of the most recent FIFA World Rankings, and will be meeting for the first time since 2015. The two teams also faced off in the 1998 World Cup final, which France won 3-0 on home soil.
Meanwhile, Colombia and Croatia will be meeting for the first time. Croatia, which reached the final of the 2018 World Cup and semifinal in 2022, is ranked 10th in the world while Colombia is 13th.
Tickets for all four matches will go on sale on Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET. Fans can register for exclusive presale access at RoadTo26.com.
