The cool change is now racing up the Bay and should reach the Melbourne CBD in the next 20-30 minutes. The biggest danger will be as the change reaches the various out of control fire-grounds and swings the wind around such that the flanks of the fires become fire fronts that are 10s of kilometres wide.

We have no power, but now also can’t access the vic emergency app either. Is anyone else having problems?

We evacuated halls gap today and fled to Ballarat. Tossing up whether to go back. I can see fires near horsham and Ararat and it’s making me nervous to return.

The prior Watch and Act for the area south of the Longwood fire has just been upgraded to an Emergency Warning to Leave Immediately.
This Emergency Warning is being issued for Break O’Day, Buxton, Clonbinane, Devlin Bridge, Flowerdale, Glenburn, Kinglake, Kinglake Central, Kinglake West, Marysville, Murrindindi, Rubicon, Taggerty, Toolangi, Woodbourne.
There is a bushfire at Longwood that is not yet under control.
The bushfire is travelling from Longwood in a southerly direction towards Taggerty and Buxton.
A wind change is expected at around 8:00pm tonight (Friday 9 January). This will cause the fire to change direction to the north east, heading back towards Strathbogie.
Conditions will become very dangerous and unpredictable!
These are the Black Saturday communities and my heart goes out to them having to go through this again.

I live in Seymour. Just heard that one of our work colleagues lost their place sadly. They’re safe.
