Following the work carried out in cooperation with international partners, with the objective of locating, capturing and handcuffing the wanted citizens, the structures of the State Police have provided information that a citizen accused by the GjKKO, for fraud committed within the framework of the structured criminal group, he was hiding in the United Emirates.
This information, immediately exchanged with partners, through the coordination of Interpol Tirana and Interpol Abu Dhabi, has enabled the finalization in the United Arab Emirates of the coded police operation “Platforms”. During the operation, it became possible to locate, capture and handcuff the citizen Merxhan Çeliku, 32 years old, with the aim of extradition to Albania.
The Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime has assigned the 32-year-old, the security measure “Arrest in prison”, for the criminal offense “Computer fraud”, committed within the framework of a structured criminal group.
The group in which the citizen M. Ç. is suspected to have participated is accused of defrauding citizens from Albania, RMV, Georgia and Ukraine to invest in online markets through telephone calls. From fraud, the organized criminal group has benefited large sums of money.
Cooperation continues to carry out the extradition of this citizen to Albania.
