It’s just they want to create a scenario that oh we had breach instead of we selectively share your data with palantir

  2. I stopped using most social media after reading Ten Arguments for Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now by Jaron Lanier and have not regrets about it.

  3. So that’s why I’ve gotten two emails saying someone requested a change of password…

Thought so, had 2 attempts on my Instagram account the past 2-3 days, lucky I had 2FA on and they couldn’t get in

  5. In the last two days I have been getting an email from Instagram saying someone requested a “Password reset” at 3AM…

  6. I barley use ig but I got a notification for a reset password this morning. Immediately deleted my account.

  7. Your data is sold/stolen every day. Only way to protect yourself is to abstain from using the apps and even then some risk is always unavoidable

Does anyone else notice that we read about a new leak of highly sensitive data like every fifteen minutes every single day?

  9. Oh good. At least that explains why I’ve been getting the password reset emails.

Go make sure your IG account isn’t reusing passwords

  10. Meta is a truly evil company.

You don’t need Instagram or Facebook in your life.

Close your accounts and don’t look back.

This probably happened yesterday, I got 3 password change emails in an hour. My Instagram handle starts with A so I was probably near the top of the list

  12. PSA: if you’re not using two step verification, you should.

    Passkeys are an alternative.

My 2SV is there as a fallback in case my password does get leaked out.

I also use Ente Auth (because they’re cross platform, sync together between my phone and computer, and the app lets me export my backup codes in case I want to use another app in the future…which probably won’t happen, but you never know).

  13. That explains why I have gotten emails on Thursday and Friday saying “We got a request to reset your Instagram password”

It says if I ignore the email my password will not be changed.

  14. And now getting a password reset email randomly the other day makes sense. Crazy they wait 2 days to announce it.

  15. I’ve been getting “we received a request to log in” emails from “instagram” the past few days >click ignore
