42′ Egypt 2-1 Ivory Coast

It came from a free kick on the left, won by Yan Diomande.

The skilful teenager, 19, had the ball and turned past marker Mohamed Hany. Emam Ashour lost his patience and sprinted in to make a tackle and leave one on Diomande.

He jabbed his elbow in needlessly and gave away the free kick. Ashour and Mohamed Salah protested but it was a foul, for sure.

Diomande picked himself up to bend in a superb delivery, which Odilon Kossounou, at fault for the first goal, flicked on at the near post.

It may have been going in but the ball struck the retreating El Fotouh and bounced in, to Ivorian delight.

Now we have a game!
