Spending summers there? That’s not what a snowbird is.

SOME Canadians are changing their itinerary.
Using sweeping generalizations is dishonest.
Be precise in your headline, be honest.
And that goes for politicians as well.
Don’t stand there and say, Canadians this or that etc etc.

Ever since the annexing comments, Americans have been way more outwardly anti Canadian. They really do love their glorious leader

*Muzechka claims she started to feel less safe living in Florida as tensions between Canada and the U.S. grew, saying Americans who moved into the neighbourhood “didn’t like us Canadians very much.”*
Calling bullshit, unless they decided to open up about their own views and then didn’t like the reaction.

I am driving from Southern Ontario to California (Sacramento) this summer, and back. I am really looking forward to it 🙂
I don’t have a clear itinerary but will have just shy of a month to do it all. I might drive north from there towards Kelowna and back home via the Trans Canada highway.

i hope they continue to assume our tourism numbers are dropping because we are avoiding them. that is true but there is no way i can afford a vacation this winter anyway lol

My sister’s trailer park in Florida normally had 2 – 3 units for sale pre-Trump, and now there are 25 on the market, but she says they just aren’t selling so she went back for another winter and will wait until the market improves a bit. There aren’t many Americans in the park and only a couple are MAGAs with signs in the yard, and she says they don’t go out of their way to make trouble.

I’ve traveled to the US for work and have family “snowbirds” down there right now. Nothing but love for Canadians. Thanking them for supporting their economies which have been struggling. I think a lot of this is people creating a narrative that fits their world view. Not real lived first hand experience. This issue is between governments not people. We have one life. Live it.

There are still some people traveling south to the US and I’m sure the reception we receive differs from place to place. It’s not as though all travel has ceased completely. However it’s no secret that overall, Canadians are visiting the US MUCH less and spending less money there.

There should be a travel ban for Americans coming into Canada at this point now that they are shooting their citizens in the face

I used to travel a lot to the U.S., especially Las Vegas… at least a few times a year.
I haven’t been back since late 2023, but the insane emails I am getting trying to drag me back are quite enticing.
Three free nights in a suite, $1,000 food/bev/spa credit, guaranteed rez at Michelin star restaurants that are typically booked months ahead… and just yesterday, a fully-catered luxury suite to a Feb game when the Canucks play the Golden Knights.
I’m still not going to go, though that last little perk is really making me think… but they must be really, really struggling.

I am 1 on 1 close friends with literally hundreds of people from the USA.
This is complete bull. They don’t think less of Canadians. This is complete nonsense. Maybe spend the time to actually speak to people living in the USA rather than get your impressions of what the average person thinks about Canadians from a news outlet.
Nothing has changed at all in the slightest for them. They still LOVE Canadians.
I find this sickening to read. It’s literal fearmongering based on bs. I feel bad for people with such a small pool of people they speak to that they’d believe this. Expand your horizons and speak to actual people in the USA.
Plus aren’t we past the point of stereotyping people as bad based on where they are from.

I have a question related to this – I am an American considering traveling to Canada this summer with my family, how would we be received? Understandable how many of you feel about the US these days but I am wondering how that would impact whether we would be welcome.

I own a place in Arizona so I decided to go down to the park and work on the place and enjoy a bit of sunshine. Everybody’s pretty cool except the hard-core Trump lovers. When they speak about people in the park, they will specify that they are Canadians in a derogatory way. I asked them out right are you angry about Canadians because Trump told you to be ?One guy replied that oh I’m not mad at Canadians ,it’s just that they are mad at us for no reason. At that point, I disengaged with the idiot.
