Glad people are finally starting to wake up about Paschal. He was useless and just as much a crony as the rest of FFG.
    This needs a serious investigation.

Pascal gave 10 million euro against advice, against even the recommendation of the world bank. There are people fighting tooth and nail to get the most basic of things like healthcare or a school place for their kiddo. 10 million just given up without asking.

We’ll never get an answer for this.

Talk about a conflict of interest Fine Gael will always show their true colours.

  4. It’s a conflict of interest if he made the decision when he was in the running for the job.

The optics are bad because it’s arguable he pre-paid his salary via the Irish taxpayer and thereby sweetened his odds at landing the job. Especially when the World Bank weren’t expecting these extra funds.

  5. This is drivel isn’t it relying on ignorance.
Why are we giving away money?
Actually totally normal.. with issue how much money we have in a particular year.. wow.. outrage
This source is utter crap isn’t it?

  6. Anyone else not seeing whats the big story here? Do people genuinely think this is a bribe to get his new job or something? Not a gov party voter either btw but there is obviously not much in this story if you read the background. Must be a slow news week….as long as you dont turn to the international pages.

  7. From https://extra.ie/2026/01/10/news/paschal-donohoe-world-bank :

    >Mr Donohoe was appointed as finance minister when the Government was formed in January 2025, swapping roles with Mr Chambers, who became minister for public expenditure.

    >On March 21, an updated business case and memo were sent to Mr Donohoe and circulated with officials in the DFA, with a note saying it would be on the Cabinet agenda for April 8.

    >The case was amended to say that both the €131.4 million and €141.4 million options were ‘in keeping with Ireland’s international development policy’.

    >The conclusion notes that of the €141.4 million ‘a contribution at this level would be higher than the level envisaged for Ireland by the World Bank Group.

    >‘However, while the increase would be higher than option 3, the contribution as a share of Ireland’s economy would not be significantly higher.’

The updated amount was recommended to him, discussed with the entire Cabinet, and approved. The percentage increases were not unusual, and were considerably less than the increases from some other countries.

It’s also important to note that we’re not “giving” money to the World Bank : we’re allowing the money to be used for WB loans. Hypothetically, if we were to leave the WB that money is fully repayable to us.

Remember it was ‘prudent paschal’ who stopped the energy credits at the last budget even though prices keep going up. Looks he wasn’t so prudent where it came to his future employer

  9. More corruption. Politicians should be locked up for corruption it fucks everyone when they have such control over so much money.

  10. I have no problem with giving extra to what is practically a charity organisation.

I have a massive problem with it if it was used to buy a position there.

Absolutely needs to be investigate. And we need far far far far far more serious legal consequences for brown envelopes.
