Garcia finished the quarter with a putback to send Chelsea into the locker room with a 38-17 lead.

Spain Park scored shortly into the second half but couldn’t add another field goal for the next 2:26. Brown drove in for a layup to force a timeout with the lead at 40-20 with 5:56 left in the third.

The Hornets brushed off a Nylah Calhoun driving layup with another pair of Brown baskets, including her next deep ball from the corner pocket for the 45-22 lead. The scoring pace slowed down from there, but Olivia Pryor grabbed a 24-point lead at the free throw line with 1:23 left in the third.

Landers got on the scoreboard during her senior night with a pair of made free throws with 37 seconds left in the quarter, and Alayna Osbourn finished the third strong with a basket off a steal for the 52-26 lead with eight minutes left.

Brown continued to excel down the stretch, starting out the fourth with a basket and then responding to a Libby Gray and-1 with a 3-pointer off the bounce and a midrange jumper off her own steal. That wrapped up her night with 2:45 to play, and she received an ovation from the home faithful.

Spain Park cut into the 59-34 lead in the final minutes and ended the game on an 11-0 run. Much of that was thanks to Calhoun, who got back-to-back three-point plays followed by a pair of free throws. The Jags also scored a buzzer-beater to end the fourth, but the Hornets walked away with the 14-point win.

In addition to Brown’s 32 points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals, Bass earned nine points, four rebounds and three steals and Garcia finished with six points and seven rebounds.

Calhoun led Spain Park with 12 points while Chenelle Hunter earned 11 points. Elle Smith and Gray each had five points and Lynlee Franks and Teagan Huey each finished with four points.

Chelsea improved to 14-6 overall and 2-0 in area play. The Hornets will finish the front half of area play on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at Chelsea High School against the Helena Huskies before a four-game road stretch.

Spain Park dropped to 13-9 and will face the Pelham Panthers on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at Jag Arena in a battle of 1-1 teams in the area.
