I assume this was done to ensure this year will have lower immiration rate than last which should stem the rise of one nation.

It should have been like this from the start.
Idk why people hate on international students so much (especially the ones who actually go to uni), they throw money at us and education is one of our biggest exports, lots of them just go home after finishing as well.
We should be targeting the barrage of already foreign educated engineers, accountants etc, much less beneficial to our economy.
My experience from working is that there are people with IT or commerce degrees from who knows where that can’t understand basic words like “status” or “completed”.
*How did they get through the IELTS test or even complete a degree?*
Some people even need a live translator as you speak.

Not being racist at all but how did you complete those assessments?

Nepalese students are basically supporting Australia at this stage. Much gratitude and respect for all their hard work.
Let’s be honest – they’re only here as they get extra points for Australian study when they file their Expression of interest for migration purposes. Also not many countries give 2-3 year post study working rights and allow partners on masters to work unrestricted hours. They are buying permanent residency.
It’s such a shame because my supervisor has had some really good students from India. Bad apples spoiled it for the whole bunch, now everyone assumes even the good students cheated and they struggle to find postdoc jobs or get work visas.
I write on my resume I am a native speaker. Nowadays degrees aren’t worth much in these Australian universities. We get the second tier students that couldn’t get to the US or UK.
