The Serbian oil company NIS has signed an agreement to import the first quantities of crude oil via the Adria Pipeline operated by JANAF, enabling the resumption of production at the Pancevo oil refinery.

The first deliveries are expected to arrive at the refinery next week. The company also plans to import additional quantities of crude oil and begin start-up activities at the Pancevo refinery.

At the beginning of December, production facilities were suspended due to a lack of crude oil for processing, following US sanctions imposed on the company.

In December, the US Treasury issued a special licence allowing NIS to resume operational activities, including refining and crude oil imports, until 23 January.
