Health officials apparently didn’t look the other way when conducting an inspection of a movie theater in Dobbs Ferry.
LOOK Dine-In Cinema in the Rivertowns Square Shopping Center was forced to temporarily close Jan. 6 after being issued violations under the state Sanitary Code by the Westchester County Health Department.
It reopened a few days later, but no food or drink were sold.
According to several broadcast reports, LOOK was cited when a dead mouse was discovered trapped under wires behind a curtain in one of the theaters. Rodent droppings were also found in multiple areas of the three-year establishment, including behind movie screens in five of the eight theaters and on the surface of a storage cabinet in the kitchen.
Sign posted on front door of LOOK DIne-In Cinema from Westchester County Health Department.
Health officials reported those were repeat violations for the theater, but noted there was no public health hazard.
A hearing is scheduled later this month with the Health Department to address the violations and corrective steps taken.
A spokesperson for LOOK issued a statement to the media that read, “The cleanliness and safety of our guests and team members is our top priority. We work with multiple licensed pest control providers on an ongoing basis and maintain regular preventative treatments. In addition, we are coordinating closely with the property’s development group and Westchester County Health to proactively address and resolve any concerns.”
