After Russian journalist Vladimir Solovyov raised the possibility of conducting a “special military operation” in Armenia, a proposal has been made to strip him of an Armenian state award, APA reports, citing Armenian media.

The proposal was put forward by Tigran Hakobyan, Chairman of Armenia’s Television and Radio Commission.

He proposed that Solovyov be stripped of the Order of Honor of the Republic of Armenia.

Hakobyan recalled that Vladimir Solovyov was awarded the Order of Honor in 2013 “for his contribution to the development of friendship between the Armenian and Russian peoples and the strengthening of peace.” However, he noted that today the same individual is openly proposing a scenario of military intervention against Armenia similar to the events unfolding in Ukraine.

According to Hakobyan, a person who threatens Armenia and effectively calls for war against the country cannot hold one of Armenia’s highest state awards.

“Stripping him of the Order of Honor is the minimal and necessary step to protect the dignity of the state,” Tigran Hakobyan said.
