Japan may have just offered a glimpse of its next-gen 1st Airborne Brigade: a land assault unit now paired with quadrupedal unmanned ground vehicles (Q-UGVs).
During the recent New Year descent training, two Ghost Robotics “robot dogs” joined the exercise, marking the first time Japan’s landing troops integrated Q-UGVs directly into simulated frontline operations.
The robotic platforms acted as reconnaissance units, advancing ahead of soldiers to scan the terrain and relay real-time situational data.
