The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, received in a meeting the Commander of the NATO Allied Joint Forces Command in Naples, American Admiral George M. Wikoff.
This was the first meeting between Prime Minister Kurti and Admiral Wikoff, during which Kurti congratulated him on assuming his new position, expressing his readiness for full cooperation. He praised the good communication and interaction of the Government of Kosovo with the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, in order to guarantee security and peace for all citizens.
During the meeting, Kurti emphasized that Kosovo is a success story of NATO intervention, underlining that the country’s liberation and independence have become the basis for economic development, democratic state-building and social welfare. He expressed the gratitude of the people of Kosovo for the North Atlantic Alliance and its decisive role.
Speaking about the security situation, Prime Minister Kurti reaffirmed Kosovo’s goal and commitment to full NATO membership, describing this as the best response to lasting peace, long-term stability and security in the region. He emphasized that Kosovo’s security begins with the security of its borders.
Kurti also informed Admiral Wikoff about the actions and results of Kosovo institutions in combating organized crime and strengthening the rule of law, as well as about the ongoing investments in the defense sector.
At the end of the meeting, Prime Minister Kurti thanked Admiral Wikoff for the conversation and for the continued contribution of KFOR and NATO in maintaining security and stability in Kosovo.
