UTICA, N.Y. — Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado visited Utica as part of his State of the People tour, challenging Gov. Kathy Hochul in the upcoming Democratic primary.
Delgado spoke at the Jewish Community Center about the economic challenges New Yorkers face, including rising costs of housing, healthcare and childcare. The town hall allowed the community to express their concerns about the economy.
Delgado said, “The economics of the state are worsening in terms of economic inequality you know fewer and fewer have a lot you know and more and more have less and we have to change that.”
He emphasized the importance of “taxing the ultra-wealthy and big corporations to grow our prosperity and share in our prosperity so we can make meaningful investments is key. The governor has consistently said she doesn’t want to do that I think it’s important that we take a step in the direction that allows us to leverage our resources.”
The tour will also visit Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester and New York City. The primary is scheduled for June 23.
