The Albanian coalition Alliance for National Integration (AKI) has won two municipalities in repeat local elections held on Sunday in several municipalities across North Macedonia, according to preliminary results.
AKI candidate Valbon Limani – from the coalition led by the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) – defeated the candidate of the other Albanian coalition, VLEN, Nevzat Bejta, to win the municipality of Gostivar.
AKI also won the municipality of Vrapčište with candidate Isen Shabani.
Shabani’s opponent in these elections was Zulhajrat Demiri, who was supported by the Group of Voters, according to preliminary results.
In addition to these two municipalities, local elections were also repeated in Mavrovo-Rostuša and Centar Župa.
